Meet the Simplify Consultant:
In a series of interviews, we will introduce you to the consultants from the Simplify Consulting team. Today we meet one of our team to find out more about them, their background and the work they are fulfilling at our busy consultancy.
Today’s spotlight is on Emma Norris Head of Portfolio at Simplify Consulting.
What do you do at Simplify?
As Head of Portfolio, I am in the lucky position to have sight across our broad portfolio of client engagements. Ensuring we are delivering on commitments to our clients is critical which means keeping track of progress and planning for pipeline projects. Relatively new to Simplify, I am enjoying the challenge of working with clients to understand their challenges, shape solutions and mobilise change necessary to meet their objectives.
What’s your past experience? How has that helped in this role/our clients?
I worked for over 20 years in a large Corporate Life & Pensions company starting my career in Ops and then progressing through a variety of change roles, most recently Heading up Transformation. This experience has provided me with a knowledge of the industry, regulation, and products but also the change tools, framework and practical solutions for the portfolio and underlying project delivery. Our clients rely on us to bring breadth of experience and impartial insight and challenge in support of change delivery.
What are the values that drive you?
I like to make change as easy and reliable as possible – providing robust but pragmatic frameworks to allow our consultants to do an excellent job for our clients. This often means focusing on the outcomes, keeping solutions simple but professional. The culture at Simplify means there is always an expert to call upon to get the job done #teamsimplify.
What do you enjoy outside of work?
I’m a busy mum of 2 children who love nothing better than beaches and surfing so we enjoy time outdoors and visiting Cornwall with friends whenever we can. I am an eclectic music fan which includes being an enthusiastic member of a ladies Barbershop singing chorus Fascinating Rhythm, regular theatre goer and lover of rock (and pop!) music. In much needed quieter times, I am an avid reader.
Equally Simplify like us all to challenge ourselves to raise money for local charities and give us the platform and encouragement to do it so this links in nicely with my motivations.
