For the past 6 years, we have organised and run a charity golf day at Dudsbury Golf Course in Dorset. The main aim of the day is to raise money for charity; and we are so proud to have raised nearly £25k for some amazing causes over the years. We always try and organise something new each year – electronic scoring by GD Score Live, club cleaning, a hole in one prize, an auction hosted by the amazing Paul Coyte, being supported by so many generous sponsors including Neil Dallyn at Rodford Engineering and getting more and more people come along to hopefully have a great day.
We had grand plans for this years golf day – as we smashed our £10k target last year (raising over £16k for Wessex Cancer Trust), we wanted to see if we could raise £25k for the Dorset Children’s Foundation.
As we all know and have experienced over the past few months, the world has changed and so have our plans.
Whilst our commitment to our chosen charities – the Dorset Children’s Foundation and the Rainbow Trust – is as strong as ever and we will continue to support them during 2021, we know we won’t be able to reach our target this year and actually we feel the focus of the day should change. We want to continue to host and run an amazing golf day. We want to lift people’s spirits. We want to look after our guests and treat them. We just want to put on an affordable and great event. There will be a raffle and any proceeds from sponsorship and competitions will all go to our chosen charities; however we just want people to play golf, relax and have a great day.
We hope that the lockdown measures continue to ease and we hope that we can enjoy some food and drink after the golf is done…we know this years event will be very different from any of the others but it will be no less important.
Our priority is our guests and their safety; and we hope it will be safe for us to continue our golf day on 2nd September 2020.
We will confirm our exact plans shortly but in the mean time, stay safe.
